0.9.79 RC#1 feedback here...

Changed 2008-06-09:

* Trail line setup - fixed for JP-7 finally; this (CustomItem) is probably the most buggy feature of all implementation I could test it on. Evil or Very Mad
OK - on SE phones, the item is the first in Settings->Desktop (and you should used non-gaming key - like key 3 etc - to change the mode between color and thickness setup), on others it is the last. On qwerty Blackberries, use ALT+trackball and ALT+numbers.

* fix an old bug in the "event dispatcher", and it had "avalanche effect" (hence the delay with 0.9.79), so - you may now notice a dialog shortly appearing when starting/stopping tracking (it is a hack but helps, hope to come up with better solution soon); maybe Stop will now work Motorolas; maybe TB will now "conflict" with powersaving on SE phones in a different way; maybe you will notice subtle differences elsewhere...

* keylock confirmation dialog appears after you release the * key, but TB should vibrate once the key lock/unclock gets effective

* also backlight confirmation dialog appears after key 3 is released

* added {wpt-alt-diff}

* added support for playing custom sound files for a wpt - use <link href="my_sounds_eg_follow_the_white_rabbit.amr"/> inside <wpt> element - I'm looking forward for a tool I'll be able to plan a bike trip with voice navigation with... Wink

* localization - resource files will be in wiki

** for translators **
- 3 new entries since beta - IDs: 1386, 1387, 3516; the en_US.txt is available here
- please upload .res files directly to wiki, it should work now; or if you have better idea, write about it

BACKUP the BETA first! Cool

This is a waypoint generated by TrekBuddy.

Quote:
<wpt lat="41.324590899" lon="-3.878951083">
<ele>953.9</ele>
<time>2007-12-30T11:16:34Z</time>
<name>Ermita San Frutos</name>
<desc>Ermita</desc>
<link href="images-2007-12-30-08-46-32/pic-2.jpg" />
</wpt>

{wpt-name} is <name> field
{wpt-cmt} is <desc> or <cmt> field
and what is {wpt-sym} ?

It´s a string or a filename?

1. I think I'm gonna change <desc> to <cmt>, because <desc> "holds additional information about the element intended for the user, not the GPS", while <cmt> is "sent to GPS as comment." - and TB(+receiver) is a "GPS" in our case, I think.

2. TB will not generate <sym>. I implemented support for this element for guy(s) developing (Car) Navigation CMS profile for them to have more icons available... The content is of string type, so I suppose they will generate GPX with <sym>s containing single characters...

Shifts map position on layer change (longer post in bugs section).

Request: May we have an option for setting the route line thickness and colour in the same way as the visible trail line?

Thanks for all your hard work Smile

It seems to happen when both ends of trail segment are located off screen (outside visible part of a map)

I've encauntered the same problem, using MFC (Microsoft's libraries) while developing windows apps.

Could be useful - I will add such option.

Hmm, at the moment, uncheck the Settings->Desktop->show trail box and move the map or wait for next position... no quick way now... Sad

Try to check such case, when provider is started again after trail off/on, I can see old trail drawn again. Trail on/off seems to be logical as is (display), but trail reset should be done, ie using Start provider or new Navigation menu function - Reset trail.

This version is working much better on my phone (SE Z710i) than 0.9.78, the program doesn't stop every 10 minutes anymore, it only stops communicating with the GPS (SE HGE-100) so usely I can easily restart for the next 10 minutes.
I like it very much that the track stays visible after a restart, so I can see the whole track even though it is recorded in several segments.

Keep on the good work!!
